Meteorologist Colin Hackman Leaving WECT

colin hackmanMeteorologist Colin Hackman is leaving WECT, the NBC affiliate in Wilmington, N.C. “My family and I have decided, to concentrate more time and energy toward each other, and towards our growing business Go Time, assisting non-profits with fundraising,” he wrote on Facebook.

Hackman has worked at the station on and off since 1996. He began his career at the station as a teleprompter operator and studio camera operator and eventually joined KRNV in Reno as a reporter. He returned to WECT in 2004 and is currently the morning and noon meteorologist.

“I have been at this station on and off since 1996 (at 19 years old), and am forever grateful for the people here who’ve extend such grace, compassion and love,” Hackman wrote. “Thank you WECT for believing in me, for giving me an opportunity to be a provider for my family, and also for giving me friends and memories that will never be equalled.”

Hackman hinted that his replacement will be a “familiar face” to WECT viewers.
