Meteorologist Britta Merwin Says Goodbye to KCRA

By Merrill Knox

KCRA meteorologist Britta Merwin is leaving the NBC affiliate after just a year.

Merwin, who is seven months pregnant, said on her last day with the station that she is moving to Florida to be with her husband, who is training to be a Coast Guard pilot — and will be available for any of her viewers in need of a rescue. “For everybody out there, if you need someone to come help you out, drop me an email,” she said jokingly.

A Colorado native, Merwin became interested in weather during elementary-school tornado drills. She graduated from Long Island’s Stony Brook University and decided to stay on the east coast as a meteorologist for NBC and CNBC after school. She joined Sacramento’s KCRA last June.
