Austin Caviness is leaving WXII to become the pastor at Salem Fork Christian Church in Dobson, the Triad Business Journal reports. Caviness has been a meteorologist at the Winston-Salem NBC affiliate since 1997.
“All of us at WXII 12 hate to lose Austin, but we fully support his decision to go into the ministry. We thank Austin for his years of service to our viewers and wish him and his family the very best,” WXII president and general manger Hank Price said in a statement.
Caviness will officially sign off from WXII at the end of May.
