Meredith Announces New GMs in Las Vegas and Kansas City

Meredith Local Media Group has announced changes to the general manager position at two of its stations.

Darrin McDonald will move from vice president and general manager of Las Vegas Fox affiliate KVVU to vice president and general manager of the Kansas City duopoly KCTVKSMO.  Taking McDonald’s place in Las Vegas will be Todd Brown, who was promoted from general sales manager at KVVU.  McDonald fills the vacancy left by the departure of Robert Totsch in October.

“Darrin has been a great leader at KVVU and will use his skills and expertise to build upon our presence in the Kansas City market,” said Paul Karpowicz, president of the Local Media Group.  “Todd is well poised to be successful as he steps into his new role at KVVU, and will be an asset to our group’s leadership team.”

“I greatly enjoyed leading KVVU to become a top-performing station in the Las Vegas market, and I look forward to new challenges and successes at KCTV/KSMO,” said McDonald. “I am also pleased to return to Kansas City where I started my career with Meredith.”

McDonald was the general sales manager at KSMO before leading KVVU beginning in 2008.

“In the 10 years that I have been at KVVU, I have seen the station grow into a market leader,” said KVVU’s new general manager Todd Brown. “I look forward to expanding upon the strong base Darrin has built, including new marketing and sales strategies.”

Brown previously worked at both KSEE and KJEO in Fresno, CA as well as radio station KKBB in Bakersfield, CA.
