Reporter-Anchor Max Winitz Jumps from Wilmington to Sarasota

By Andrew Gauthier

The pull of southern Florida was just too strong for reporter-anchor Max Winitz.  After three and a half years with WECT in Wilmington, NC, the Miami native announced that he was leaving for a job at ABC-affiliate WWSB in Sarasota.

“Thank you to everyone in southeastern N.C. for the memories over the last three and a half years!” Winitz tweeted last week. “It has been a great ride.”

Winitz joined WECT in the summer of 2007 after graduating from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT.  He will serve as a reporter and fill-in anchor for WWSB, making a triple digit market jump from Wilmington to Sarasota (Tampa).

“I have shook hands, laughed with you and have listened to some amazing stories. All I can say, is thank you,” Winitz wrote in a letter to WECT viewers. “I am truly blessed and indebted to each and every one of you, because you have helped me fulfill my goal.”
