Matt Kummer will be promoted to news director at Green Bay ABC affiliate WBAY after Tom McCarey retires at the end of the year, TVSpy has confirmed.
“Matt’s unique combination of experiences at WBAY, other Green Bay market stations, major markets, news management and social media evangelism made him the choice for a seamless transition to the Post McCarey Era at WBAY News,” WBAY general manager Don Carmichael wrote in a note to station staffers. “Congratulate Matt and help him in every way possible to continue the great tradition of Local News Leadership at WBAY’s Action 2 News.”
Kummer has been the station’s assistant news director since 2011. He has also worked at WCCO in Minneapolis, WISH in Indianapolis and WLUK in Green Bay.
