WKMG‘s morning news team has added a new member. Matt Austin, a Florida native, is joining the Orlando CBS-affiliate’s morning newscast, where he’ll work alongside Laura Diaz at the anchor desk.
Austin comes to WKMG after serving as a morning anchor for Oklahoma City’s KOKH.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Matt help wake up Central Florida,” said Skip Valet, WKMG’s vice president and general manager, in announcing the hiring. “His knowledge of our community, his passion for the news and his love of mornings make him the perfect addition to our dynamic team.”
Austin says that he’s excited to return to Florida, where he was born and where he attended college at Florida State University: “This is truly a dream job for me.”
