WFTV reporter Mark Joyella has resigned from the Orlando ABC affiliate to be closer to his family.
Joyella wrote on his blog, “So today I handed in my resignation, and the bosses here were kind enough to release me from my contract.”
“[L]eaving New York, where our entire extended family lives, was far harder than expected,” wrote Joyella, who added, “The homesickness—and for me, with my Mom now living alone in Maine and recovering from cancer—the guilt, became overwhelming.”

Before joining WFTV in 2012, Joyella worked at CNN where he was a digital producer for “Erin Burnett Out Front.” He has also worked at WNYW and WPIX in New York, WPLG in Miami and WFTS in Tampa, FL.
