Marian Davey Named News Director at KMSP

Marian Davey has been promoted to news director at KMSP, the Fox O&O in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Davey joined the station in 2002 as managing editor and was promoted to assistant news editor in 2003.

“Mim has strengthened our news product, led our expansion efforts to nearly 50 hours a week, and has executed tremendous digital growth. She has been an integral part of our station’s progress over the past 11 years and earned this role as leader of our news team,” KMSP vice president and general manager Carol Rueppel said in a statement.

Before joining KMSP, Davey spent 14 years at WCCO, the CBS O&O in Minneapolis-St. Paul. She began her career there as an intern and was eventually named managing editor.

Davey replaces Bill Dallman, who recently joined Fox Sports 1 as vice president of news.

MINNEAPOLIS – Marian Davey has been named Vice President and News Director for KMSP FOX 9, announced Carol Rueppel, the station’s Vice President and General Manager. Davey will be responsible for overseeing all editorial, business and administrative functions for FOX 9 News, reporting directly to Rueppel.

In making the announcement, Rueppel stated, “Mim has strengthened our news product, led our expansion efforts to nearly 50 hours a week, and has executed tremendous digital growth. She has been an integral part of our station’s progress over the past 11 years and earned this role as leader of our news team.”

Davey joined KMSP-TV in July of 2002 as managing editor. Less than a year after her hire, Davey was promoted to assistant news director. Highlights of her FOX 9 tenure include leading the newsroom during three Presidential elections, the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a KMSP-sponsored gubernatorial debate in 2010. Davey has also overseen the KMSP Investigative Unit since 2008 and under her tenure, it has won dozens of Regional Emmys.

Prior to joining KMSP and the FOX Station Group, Davey spent fourteen years at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis/St. Paul. She began her career as an intern at WCCO-TV, then rose through the ranks as a medical and sports producer, and later became Managing Editor in her tenth year at the station.
