While reporting during KPNX’s 6 o’clock news last night, reporter Joe Dana found himself unwittingly in the middle of the lead of the late news.
Dana was live in downtown Phoenix covering a court case when a man pushing a woman in a wheelchair appeared behind him. The man, identified as 60-year-old Randall Burgess, slapped the woman. Viewers noticed and called the KPNX newsroom. Dana informed nearby police officers who detained Burgesss. He has a criminal past. Police escorted the woman to her apartment.
