By Kevin Eck

Sixty years ago today, Portland, ME, NBC affiliate WCSH aired its first broadcast.

December 20, 1953, Maine Governor Burton Cross joined station executives Bill Rines and Jack Atwood in dedicating the new station broadcasting from the Congress Square Hotel, which is where the letters CSH come from.

It was the third station in Portland at the time. But its the only one of the first three still broadcasting.
