Wisconsin Station Launches Market’s First Drone

Madison, Wisconsin ABC affiliate WKOW launched the market’s first news gathering drone yesterday.

27 Sky Track with an HD camera will be used by the Quincy-owned station for traffic events, weather and news for the South central Wisconsin market.

“It’s very exciting to be the first TV station in Madison to offer a new and different perspective to the news that a drone will offer,” said news director Ed Reams. “The aerial images from our drone will greatly enhance the kind of news coverage we can offer to our viewers.”

WKOW has an on-staff FAA drone pilot to operate the UAV. It also says it plans to expand its fleet of pilots and drones.
