Louisville TV Trailblazer Passes Away

A member of the original WAVE 3 Television family has died. Former long-time anchor Ryan Halloran passed away at his Louisville home early Nov. 26 at age 90.

Paul Halloran, Ryan’s son, says his father moved to Kentucky from Minnesota to begin working at WAVE. Station archives show he started here in the 1940’s as a disc jockey on WAVE 970, the radio station.

The versatile Halloran soon anchored news programs on the television station, which signed on the air Thanksgiving Day 1948. More…
