Longtime WHAG Anchor Bob Borngesser Passes Away

By Andrew Gauthier

Bob Borngesser, who was a fixture at the WHAG anchor desk for nearly two decades, died this morning after a long battle with cancer.

In addition to anchoring the news for WHAG, Borngesser served as the NBC-affiliate’s news director.  He retired in 1997.

“Sheer pandemonium could be reining behind the scenes and Bob could deliver the news with complete composure,” current WHAG news director Mark Kraham said.  “He was a very talented broadcaster.”

Before joining WHAG in 1979, Borngesser worked as a D.C.-based correspondent for NBC.
