Thom Cornelis will retire as sports director of KWQC, the NBC affiliate serving the Quad Cities market in Iowa and Illinois, in September. His retirement caps off more than four decades in the market.
Cornelis will officially sign off September 16, which was his first day at both KWQC and WQAD, the two Quad Cities stations he has worked at over the course of his career. It is also his wedding anniversary and the birthday of one of his daughters.
In his announcement on Tuesday’s 6 p.m. newscast, Cornelis said he will come back and “pinch hit” for KWQC occasionally. Watch:
