Liberté Chan Says ‘There Is No Controversy’ Over Dress Cover Up

By Kevin Eck

KTLA meteorologist Liberté Chan is poking a hole in social media theories about why she covered up what she was wearing this weekend.

Saturday morning, Chan was wearing a sparkly black dress when the Los Angeles CW affiliate got what she said were “a slew of negative emails from viewers saying the dress was inappropriate for air.”

Co-anchor Chris Burrous handed her a sweater to cover up saying they “were getting a lot of emails.”

Yahoo News wrote, “Today’s forecast: Awkward with a chance of sexual harassment.”

“For the record, I was not ordered by KTLA to put on the sweater,” said Chan in a blog post. “I was simply playing along with my co-anchor’s joke, and if you’ve ever watched the morning show, you know we poke fun at each other all the time.”

“And, also for the record, there is no controversy at KTLA,” said Chan. “My bosses did not order me to put on the cardigan, it was a spontaneous moment. I truly love my job, I like my bosses and enjoy working with my coworkers. Since talking to my team, I want our viewers to know it was never our intention to offend anyone. We are friends on and off the air and if you watch our newscast, you know that.”

The Daily Mail pointed out one viewer called the whole thing a double standard. The station once let lingerie models do the weather during a newscast.
