KSHB’s lead anchor Elizabeth Alex is scaling back her duties at the Kansas City NBC-affiliate.

Alex, who has been KSHB‘s marquee anchor for the past 15 years, has decided to focus her time on humanitarian work.  Alex will work part-time beginning March 7th, appearing only on the station’s 6 p.m. newscast.

Alex is set to take a position with TLC for Children, a charitable organization in Olathe, Kansas that provides shelter and social services for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

As the Kansas City Star points out, Alex has long been committed to humanitarian work.

“Television journalism runs in my blood, and the need to help abused, neglected and hurting children occupies a big part of my heart,” she said in announcing the move.
