Las Vegas Station Gets in the Fight Game

KTNV is gearing up for what’s being called “The Fight of the Century” between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in May.

The Journal-owned Las Vegas ABC affiliate has hired Jon Saraceno as an exclusive analyst to cover the fight. Saraceno told TVSpy he has numerous relationships in boxing including fight promoter Bob Arum. He’s also worked as a ringside analyst for ESPN and is a US correspondent for Sky Sports News in London. He was nominated for a Pultizer Prize in 1994 and was an award-winning columnist for USA Today.

“We’re extremely excited,” said Jim Prather, EVP and GM of KTNV. “Jon will be our go-to guy for unique and different stories. His first day on the job, he secured an exclusive one-on-one with Manny Pacquiao at his gym in Los Angeles.”

The station promises Saraceno’s reports “will ramp-up as the fight gets closer.”

Prather added, “This is more than just a sports story. It’s going to be the biggest sports event ever in the history of Las Vegas and Jon will provide a special edge in making sure it’s reported right.”
