Katie Fehlinger, meteorologist at CBS-owned KYW in Philadelphia, says she’s “beyond overwhelmed” by the support she’s received after calling out the “haters” who criticized her for doing the weather while pregnant.
Fehlinger, 35 weeks pregnant with twins, wrote a message “for the haters” on Facebook after receiving a series of rude comments about her appearance. “The nature of my job makes me an easy target for criticism,” she wrote. “I will always understand that, and I will most typically just ignore it. However, after someone blatantly called me a ‘sausage in casing’ and another declared that ‘sticking your pregnant abdomen out like that is disgusting’, I felt a need to draw a line and speak up.”
Her message hit a chord with viewers and others around the country, gaining more than 32,000 likes. “Every human being on earth is here because a woman went through this journey…and THAT should be celebrated. Thank you all for proving that positivity outweighs the negative.”
