KXAS Says Goodbye to Ashanti Blaize and Susy Solis

By Merrill Knox

NBC owned-and-operated KXAS in Dallas is shaking up their talent lineup for fall.

Uncle Barky’s Bytes reported that the station has said goodbye to weekend anchor Ashanti Blaize (pictured) and reporter Susy Solis. Both joined KXAS  in October 2007, and both will finish up their tenure at the station next week. Blaize told TVSpy in an email that it was her decision not to sign another contract with the station.

The station has also hired two new journalists who start this week: reporter Ray Villeda, who joined KXAS from WFSB in Hartford, and Marc Fein, an anchor on Turner Sports. Fein will transition from sports to news as co-anchor of the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts.

Tully said the station plans to announce the hiring of two more reporters and a backpack video journalist soon. “I’ve been hiring like crazy,” news director Susan Tully told Uncle Barky’s Bytes. “We are hiring reporters … got a lot of activity here. It’s fun.”
