By Kevin Eck

Dean Blevins, sports director for Oklahoma City CBS affiliate KWTV, is being accused of airing his thoughts about non-English speaking gas station attendants on Twitter, then deleting the tweet.

The tweet, captured by media blog The Lost Ogle said, “Happy we are the melting pot. Will be happier …if ppl who pour into our pot & sell me fuel & Milk Duds find time to learn our language.”

The response to the deleted tweet was not kind to Blevins, ranging from “How many languages have you found the time to learn” to “Where does 1 learn to speak asshole?

Griffin Communications, parent company of KWTV, told TVSpy, “Griffin Communications actively promotes and encourages diversity in our community and our business and does not agree with nor condone Dean’s comments. Griffin deleted the tweet in accordance with our strict social media policy which includes monitoring both station and talent social media accounts on a daily basis.”

One viewer tweeted KWTV, prompting the station to reply, “This is not the view of News 9. That was posted on his personal account.”

Response to Blevins deleted tweet has leaked to his other Twitter conversations. In a tweet Blevins posted about outgoing Texas coach Mack Brown, one viewer wrote, “Mack needs to learn how to speak proper English or leave the country.”

According to his station bio, Blevins has been at KWTV since 2001.
