Jerome Chavez, a photographer for KWES in Midland-Odessa, was involved in a fatal car accident on his way to cover a story, the NBC affiliate reports:
DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2010 Toyota Scion XD was traveling westbound on Yukon when the vehicle left the roadway, overcorrected and went into a side skid. The Scion then crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a 2001 Saturn SL1 traveling eastbound.
The driver of the Saturn, 61-year-old Robert Kounce of Midland was killed in the accident. The driver of the Toyota Scion XD, 28-year-old Jerome Chavez, who is a NewsWest 9 photographer and was driving a NewsWest 9 vehicle to a story, was injured in the accident.
