Tom Tefertiller, chief meteorologist at KWES, the NBC affiliate in Midland, Texas, has added an impressive new title to his resume: news director.
“Our newsroom needed experienced leadership with a working knowledge of Newswest 9,” Tefertiller told TVSpy. “After 21 years in the weather center, I felt like this was a challenge that I wanted to take on and to continue our tradition of market dominance in news and weather. Many exciting things are coming to Newswest 9 and I want to be working with our General Manager, Jackie Rutledge, to make us the best we can be as a news organization.”
Tefertiller joined KWES in 1994 as a meteorologist. He previously worked at KAVU, the ABC affiliate in Victoria, Texas, as chief meteorologist.
Tefertiller replaces David Marino, who left in December to become senior producer for Time Warner Cable News in Austin.
