KTVX Shuffles On-Air Talent Roster, Newscasts

By Andrew Gauthier

KTVX is shuffling its on-air roster as the station prepares to expand its 4:00 p.m. newscast following a strong showing in November.

The Salt Lake City ABC-affiliate announced this week that Brent Hunsaker and Kylie Conway (pictured) will be the new main anchor team, while Don Hudson and Kim Fischer, who joins KTVX from KXAS in Dallas, will team up for the 5:00 p.m. weekday newscast.

KTVX is bidding farewell to current weekday evening anchor Karen Carlson, who is expecting her first child within a few weeks and is leaving to become a stay-at-home mom.

On January 9th, KTVX’s 4:00 p.m. newscast will expand to a full-hour.  To accommodate the additional news programming, the station will no longer produce a 9 p.m. newscast on sister station KUCW.

One other move to report: Dan Plante, who was a morning anchor with San Diego’s KUSI for over a decade, will replace Hudson at the morning anchor desk.

“We’re working hard every day to become Utah’s news station,” Conway said, “and I’m excited to play a role in the important local stories we tell.”
