San Francisco Bay Area Fox-owned station KTVU is adding an hour to its morning newscast.

Mornings on 2 at 9 a.m. will be anchored by Gasia Mikaelian, Mike Mibach and Sal Castaneda.

Fox says the expanded hour will focus on local people, businesses and news and will allow for viewer participation through social media channels.

“Expanding our local news footprint allows us to cover more local stories and look deeper into the issues impacting the Bay Area,” said KTVU vp and news director Dana Hahn. “Furthermore, the strength of the 4 p.m. launch has provided an incredible news audience for the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts, which are both up over 40% year over year.”
