KTVT was responsible for a turning point in this year’s NBA Finals, which the Dallas Mavericks won last night after six games. The Dallas-Fort Worth CBS-affiliate captured video of Miami Heat stars Dwayne Wade and LeBron James apparently mocking Mavs forward Dirk Nowitzki, the eventual Finals MVP, and the footage would go on to symbolize the Heat’s immaturity and provide motivation for their veteran opponents (video above).
Following Nowitzki’s bout with a sinus infection and 101-degree fever during Game 4, Wade and James pretended to be sick for KTVT’s camera crew before Game 5. Nowitzki went on to score 29 points in the game, propelling Dallas to a 112-103 victory and last night’s Game 6 in Miami.
