Where does he find the time? Doug Dunbar, news anchor at Dallas CBS station KTVT, was in Milwaukee over the weekend, one of 5,700 athletes competing in the 2014 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships. “You get to a point in your life where you’ve done so much, but you’ve never truly tested your personal limits,” Dunbar told the Dallas Morning News‘ Debbie Fetterman. “Nothing in my world has ever challenged me to the limit like triathlon has.”

Dunbar said his work schedule enables him to effectively juggle his many interests. He helps get his two kids off to school daily. He then has several hours to train before reporting to work in the early afternoon. He couldn’t do it if his wife and children didn’t understand and support him, he said.

“For me, it’s about the journey,” Dunbar said. “It’s not about the podium. The joy is in being with like-minded people, enjoying the challenge triathlon gives you, and the smile you share with everyone when you cross the finish line.”

And cross the finish line he did:
