KTNV Surprises Staff, Moves Up Debut of News to Compete with KSNV

By Kevin Eck

KTNV general manager Jim Prather has confirmed with TVSpy, that staffers at the Las Vegas ABC affiliate were told yesterday the station was going to start airing a full hour of news at 3:00 p.m beginning Monday.

The station currently airs a half hour of news at 3:30 p.m. Prather told TVSpy the decision to add the half hour was made more than a year ago when they decided then to stop running “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” at 3:00 p.m. But, “When KSNV announced [its] 3pm start next Monday, we moved up our timeline and will start Monday as well.” Prather added, “We had planned to make the transition on 9/16/13.”

A check of TVEyes showed the station started promoting the switch this morning.
