KSL won’t carry NBC’s ‘The Playboy Club’

By Chris Ariens

KSL in Salt Lake City has decided to pass on airing NBC’s new fall show “The Playboy Club.”

KSL, owned by Bonneville International, which is in turn owned by the Church of Jesus Chris of Later Day Saints — the Mormons, says the decision, “is based on the station’s long-term policy to screen programming for material which significant portions of our audience may find objectionable.”

Described as a “provocative new series,” the show tells the story of the rise of the first Playboy Club in Chicago “where a visionary created an empire, and an icon changed American culture.”

Too much vision for KSL, apparently.

This is not the first time KSL has passed on NBC programming. It does not carry “Saturday Night Live” leaving it to air on CW affiliate KUCW.
