In his first television interview since signing a 10-year, $254 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels, former Cardinals first-baseman Albert Pujols told KSDK‘s Rene Knott that the backlash from St. Louis fans has been “really difficult” to deal with.
“I know where they come from,” he said. “Obviously my decision affects a lot of people here in the city … it was tough, I was crying, I was emotional.”
KSDK, the NBC-affiliate in St. Louis, interviewed Pujols and his wife exclusively yesterday in a wide-ranging interview that lasted nearly 20 minutes (watch inside).
