Jillian O’Brien will join KSBW as assistant news director later this month.
O’Brien comes to the Hearst owned Salinas-Monterey NBC affiliate from CNN Headline News where she was senior producer.
“Jillian’s return to the Central Coast is a ‘perfect storm’ personally and professionally,” Lawton Dodd, KSBW news director said in a statement. “A return to family, home and hearth here on the Central Coast, bolstered by a passion for journalism and the legacy of community leadership that is KSBW.”
She first worked at KSBW from in 2002 to 2005 as a line producer, leaving to work for KRON in San Francisco. She moved to the CNN Abu Dhabi bureau in 2009 and won a Peabody Award for coverage of the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill. She returned to the US earlier this year.
