After 17 years on the anchor desk, Kristie VerMulm has announced she is leaving Sioux City, IA, NBC affiliate KTIV in November.

“Deep down I know this day would eventually come,” said VerMulm in a statement. “It hasn’t been an easy decision, but it’s the right choice for me and my family. For the last 17 years I have been blessed with the opportunity to anchor the evening newscasts at KTIV.”

VerMulm started at KTIV as a reporter in 1993. After leaving the station in 1994, she returned in 1996 as anchor of the 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. news and was added as anchor of the 5:00 p.m. news in 2000.

“KTIV newscast viewership market share annually ranks among the top five of 209 NBC markets. This is something we are all very proud of,” said KTIV regional vice president and general manager Jerry Watson. “Kristie’s contributions to KTIV have been nothing but outstanding, and her leadership and teamwork have helped build KTIV into the successful national news power it is today.”

VerMulm’s last day will be November 27.
