KPRC’s Daniella Guzman Joining WMAQ in Chicago

KPRC reporter Daniella Guzman is leaving Houston for a job at WMAQ in Chicago.

“I’ll be heading to NBC5 in March,” Guzman told Houston media blogger Mike McGuff. “Opportunity knocked and I opened the door. I will miss Houston very much!”

Guzman is a reporter and weekend anchor at KPRC, the NBC-affiliate in Houston. She joined the station in 2006.

Time Out Chicago’s Robert Feder reports Guzman is the likely successor to morning anchor Zoraida Sambolin, who left the station for CNN in November, at NBC O&O WMAQ.

Daniella Guzman Joins NBC 5 Chicago News

(Chicago, January 19, 2012)    Daniella Guzman is joining NBC 5 Chicago as co-anchor of  NBC 5’s weekday morning newscasts starting in March, the station announced today.

“We are pleased to add Daniella to our news team,” said Frank Whittaker, Station Manager and Vice President of News for NBC 5 Chicago.  “She will bring a fresh and new perspective to our morning team.  I know our viewers will enjoy getting to know her.”

Guzman comes to NBC 5 News from KPRC-TV in Houston where she has been a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter since 2006.  Before joining KPRC, Guzman worked for the Telemundo station in Houston and the Univision network in Miami.    She’s also worked for Televisa Mexico and the Houston Chronicle.
Guzman graduated from the University of St. Thomas in Houston with a degree in bilingual journalism and communications.  She is fluent in Spanish.  She is married and has a young daughter.
