By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

KNBC managing editor Matt Goldberg has been promoted to assistant news director.

“Since his return to NBC4, Matt has proven himself as an inspirational leader who not only understands news in LA, but also how to effectively navigate the waters of a large newsroom,” said station vice president, Todd Mokhtari, in a memo to the newsroom.

According to Goldberg’s Linkedin page, he started at the NBC affiliate in Los Angeles in 2014 as managing editor and supervisor to the station’s investigative unit.

“In this new role, he will also continue to lead the I-Team. And for now, while we look for his replacement, Matt will still serve as Managing Editor on most days,” said Mokhtari.

Goldberg takes over for Stacy Owen who left LA for the Bay Area where she is now president and GM of NBC’s KNTV-KSTS stations.
