KMGH On Altered Book Cover, ‘It Was a Mistake’

By Kevin Eck

KMGH has issued a statement on its website about airing an altered cover of Paula Broadwell’s book, “All In, The Education of General David Petraeus”.

“It was a mistake,” Jeff Harris, news director for the Denver ABC affiliate said in a statement.  “It was a regrettable and an embarrassing error.  We are mortified this appeared during our 5 p.m. news broadcast.  The editor pulled the image of the book cover from the Internet without realizing it had been doctored.  We sincerely regret the error and have corrected the story to avoid any recurrence of its broadcast.  We are following up internally as well to avoid a repeat of this inexcusable oversight.”

During last night’s 5 p.m. news, instead of showing a cover of Broadwell’s biography about former CIA Director David Petraeus, “All In”, the station showed an altered version that read, “All Up In My Snatch”.  The story and photo have since gone viral.  You can see a frame grab of the book cover on air after the jump.

This is a frame grab from the report that aired on KMGH.

Though the station has posted an explanation and apology, we must note they have posted conflicting versions of the event.  One paragraph says, “when the 7NEWS reporter went on the Internet to get an image of the book cover, the reporter mistakenly grabbed a Photoshopped image that said, “All Up In My Snatch.”

While Harris’ statement reads, “The editor pulled the image of the book cover from the Internet without realizing it had been doctored.”
