A report from Seattle’s KIRO about a local superhero has been making the internet rounds in the past week. The CBS-affiliate’s coverage of masked crusader Phoenix Jones was picked up by CNN and even inspired one YouTube user to create a theme song.
Last week KIRO’s Monique Ming Laven reported on an episode in which Phoenix Jones, dressed in a skin-tight black and gold suit, came to the aid of a local man named Dan whose car was being broken into. Jones successfully chased away the would-be carjacker just as Dan was dialing 9-1-1.
It turns out that Phoenix Jones is part of an area crime-fighting campaign called the Rain City Superhero Movement. Ming Laven arranged for Dan and Phoenix Jones to reunite.
“That’s insane,” Dan said when meeting the local superhero.
