KIRO Crew Tangles With Pantless Man

By Merrill Knox

KIRO morning news anchor Chris Egert was in the field covering a story with a photographer and an intern in Seattle’s U-district when they saw something unusual, even for the area known for its proximity to a college campus:  a man walking down the street with his pants around his knees.

Egert shot this video with his iPhone while the crew followed him as he got closer to several women jogging and walking in the area. Photographer Phillip Townsend confronted the man and asked him several times to pull his pants up. The man reluctantly agreed, only to drop them again once the news crew rounded the corner.

The KIRO crew called 911. Police took a description of the pantless man and advised Egert not to follow him. Lauren Jessen— the intern, on her first day — called the experience as “frightening at first.”
