KHOU Begins to Rebuild with a Studio in Downtown Houston

In November, TVSpy reported KHOU will not return to the old location after Hurricane Harvey flooded the building.

Starting in March 2018, the Tegna owned station will begin building its first satellite studio in downtown Houston. The Houston First Corporation and KHOU announced the partnership this week.

The 780 square foot studio will be used multiple times a week for the station’s morning and midday newscasts including ‘Great Day Houston’.

“The Avenida Houston location will put us at the center of downtown activity, enabling anchors and reporters to live out our brand of ‘Standing for Houston’ by providing us with a closer connection to the community we serve,” Susan McEldoon, KHOU’s general manager said.

Since Harvey, the staff has been working from Houston Public Media. The CBS affiliate’s new main studio location will announced next year.
