Weigel Broadcasting has named Kent Harrell the new news director of its CBS and Telemundo stations in Milwaukee.
“I’ve been following CBS 58 for a while, and I’m impressed with the changes and growth over the past few years,” said Harrell in a statement. “I’m looking forward to leading this talented group of news people and delivering an exceptional newscast to the viewers of southeast Wisconsin.”
Harrell joins from WICS/WRSP the Sinclair-owned ABC/Fox duopoly in Springfield/Decatur, Illinois. Before that, Harrell led newsrooms in Green Bay, Corpus Christi, and Rockford.
Harrell will oversee CBS 58 News at Noon, 4, 5 and 10 p.m., the CBS 58 Morning News from 4:30-7am, the Telemundo Wisconsin News at 10 p.m. and the CBS 58 News at 9 p.m. on independent station WMLW.
