Kelcey Carlson Joins KMSP in Minneapolis

Kelcey Carlson has been named anchor for the 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. newscasts on KMSP, the Fox owned station in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Carlson comes from Raleigh-Durham, where she has been a reporter and anchor at WRAL for the past decade. Prior to that, she worked at WWMT in Kalamazoo, Mich.

“Kelcey comes to FOX 9 News with a passion for journalism and storytelling. This combined with her Midwest roots make her the ideal fit for this role,” KMSP vice president and general manager Carol Rueppel said in a statement.

MINNEAPOLIS – Kelcey Carlson has been named evening news anchor for KMSP FOX 9’s 5 and 9 p.m. weekday newscasts, announced Carol Rueppel, the station’s Vice President and General Manager. Beginning in early February, Carlson will co-anchor the “FOX 9 News at 5PM” and the “FOX 9 News at 9PM.”

In making the announcement, Rueppel stated, “Kelcey comes to FOX 9 News with a passion for journalism and storytelling. This combined with her Midwest roots make her the ideal fit for this role.”

For the past 10 years, Carlson has served as anchor and reporter for WRAL-TV in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. Prior to that, she was an anchor and reporter for WWMT-TV in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A graduate of Indiana University, Carlson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a Political Science concentration and a minor in French.

Added Carlson, “This opportunity is like winning the jackpot. I have fond memories of my summer vacations in the Midwest and I’m so excited to move back here with my family and be a part of the talented FOX 9 news team.”
