KDKA Anchor Susan Koeppen Suffers Heart Attack

Susan Koeppen, an evening anchor on Pittsburgh’s KDKA, suffered a heart attack this weekend while jogging, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Koppen, who was with a group of friends in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh when she had the heart attack, was administered CPR by a member of her group. A passerby used an external defibrillator from a nearby store until rescue personnel arrived, city police told the Tribune-Review.

Koppen joined the CBS owned-and-operated station earlier this fall. KDKA general manager Christopher Pike confirmed the 6 and 10 p.m. anchor was not on the air on Monday night, but refused further comment.
