A video spoof that Dallas’s KDFW made to entertain guests at this month’s Lone Star Emmy Awards has become an unexpected viral hit. The video, created by the station’s On-Air Manager Tadd Van Cleve, is a sharp-edged skewering of the news media’s current obsession with Twitter, Facebook, and Foursquare.

The parody is constructed as a breaking news alert in which veteran Clarice Tinsley anchors coverage of a shooting at City Hall. As she throws to different reporters covering the shooting, they all display a zealous reliance on social media.

Inside City Hall, reporter Natalie Solis snaps a photo with one of the shooting victims and says that she will post it to her Facebook page. As Tinsley asks him for an update on the shooting, Matt Grubbs reports that he’s just gained another Twitter follower. (Video here)
