KCRA Holds Onto First Place in Social Ratings

KCRA‘s Facebook page helped the station hold on to first place in the social media ratings in Sacramento over the last 30 days, May 21-June 21, according to Share Rocket data.

The Hearst-owned NBC affiliate remained number one in the market with a 35.9 Share overall. KXTV, the Tegna-owned ABC affiliate, came in second with a 24.3 Share and KTXL, the Tribune-owned FOX affiliate, with a 22.3 Share.

KCRA was the No. 1 station in the market on both Facebook and Twitter. KTXL had a particularly good month, increasing their overall Share by +23.1% and their total Engagement by +29.4% compared to the previous 30 days. The staton had the top three individuals in the market on Facebook, including reporter Kay Recede, anchor Ty Steele, and reporter Sarah Acosta.

Recede was the No. 1 individual on social media in the market overall with a 1.77 Share and nearly 39,000 Engagements. Her Facebook Audience grew by +253% over the last 30 days compared to the 30 days prior. Recede’s biggest post was about a family grieving after their 3-year-old daughter died after undergoing anesthesia at a Stockton, Calif., dental surgery center. The post was shared more than 14,000 times.

On Twitter, KCRA had a 36.5 Share and generated nearly 26,000 Engagements as a group. The main station account was responsible for 19.4 of that Share and about half of the total Engagement.

On Instagram, KMAX, the CBS-owned CW affiliate, led the way with a 38.1 Share as a group. The station, which is branded as Good Day Sacramento on social media, has the largest Audience of any station in the market on Instagram with more than 64,000 followers and drove more than 40,000 Engagements as a group on the platform.
