KBTX Announces New Evening Anchor Lineup

karla_castillo_steve_fullhartKBTX, the CBS affiliate in College Station, Texas, has announced its new evening anchor lineup.

Karla Castillo and Steve Fullhart, formerly 4 p.m. anchors at the station, are joining sports director Darryl Bruffett and chief meteorologist Shel Winkley, weeknights at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Kathleen Witte and Rusty Surette join KBTX as the station’s 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. anchors. Witte previously worked at NBC affiliate KALB in Alexandria, La, where she was an evening anchor. Surette comes from KWTV, the CBS affiliate in Oklahoma City, where he was an executive producer, reporter and fill-in anchor.

“KBTX is fortunate to have the experience in leadership Steve and Karla will bring to the evening newscasts,” said KBTX vice president/general manager Mike Wright. “Having the opportunity to welcome a journalism veteran like Rusty Surette to KBTX while teaming with Kathleen Witte, who possesses a true dedication to the art of journalism and effective story-telling, is rare. We are very excited about this next chapter in KBTX history.”

Witte begins her position later this month, while Surette will join in May.
