Longtime KMBC meteorologist Joel Nichols has left the Kansas City ABC affiliate.
The Pitch confirmed with KMBC news director Sherrie Brown, December 31 was Nichols’ last day at KMBC.
Nichols celebrated 25 years with KMBC in June. According to Bottom Line Communications the sticking point was that the station wanted to move Nichols to evenings but Nichols wanted to stay on mornings.

“I would just say we didn’t want this to happen,” Brown told The Pitch. “We did everything we could to keep him, but in the end, it was his decision.”
BLC is also reporting KMBC meteorologist Lisa Teachman’s contract has not been renewed.
Teachman joined KMBC in 2007.
