Jojola announced the move in a blog post this week, writing, “Over the last year, there has been a voice in me silently demanding change.”
Jojola first set foot in the KOB newsroom when he was 19, while on a field trip for a college journalism conference. After graduating from New Mexico State, Jojola joined KTSM in El Paso before eventually returning to New Mexico and KOB.
“Walking into the KUSA newsroom a couple of weeks ago was just as thrilling for me as it was when I was that 19 year old boy,” Jojola writes. “I’m excited. I’m thrilled. I’m delighted. I’m grateful.”
Jojola plans to work at KOB until the end of July. He is set to join KUSA in August.
Throughout his tenure with KOB, Jojola has embraced new technology and social media. Back in 2009, he became one of the first TV reporters (if not the first) to file a live report using his iPhone. He wrote about the experience in an editorial for TVSpy.
