It’s Official: Larry Mowry Joining WLS

By Kevin Eck

WLS has made it official: Larry Mowry is joining the Chicago ABC-owned station on April 11.

“Mowry will be joining ABC 7’s team of meteorologists — Jerry Taft, Cheryl Scott, Tracy Butler and Phil Schwartz – who are predicting Chicago weather with a powerful new, state-of-the-art tool, Live Doppler 7 Max, the only radar of its kind (s-band, dual pole) built for a commercial station in the U.S.,” said the station in a press release.

Mowry comes from CBS-owned KTVT in Dallas where he’s been since 2008. He’ll work with Stacey Baca and Ben Bradley on the weekend morning news.

This is his second go-round at WLS. He worked there once before in 2004.

“We are absolutely thrilled Larry is returning to ABC 7 and rejoining our team,” said news director Jennifer Graves. “Not only is he an experienced meteorologist, but he connects to Chicago viewers and is a commanding and reliable presence when severe weather breaks.”
