Is Meredith Interested in Buying Sinclair Stations?

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Meredith might be interested in purchasing some Sinclair stations, according to a report.

The Des Moines Register says Steve Lacy, the executive chairman of the Meredith board, plans to ask the company’s board of directors for permission to bid on certain Sinclair properties.

This comes as Sinclair announced plans to sell off some of its stations in order to stay within FCC guidelines as it plans to purchase Tribune Media for $3.9 billion. KDSM in Des Moines is one of the stations being considered. Tribune owns WHO, the NBC affiliate, in the market right now.

Lacy made the comments while speaking at the Deutsche Bank 2018 Media, Telecom and Business Services Conference in Palm Beach.
