Iowa Anchor Leaving After 4 Years

Amanda Goodman is leaving Waterloo, Iowa NBC affiliate KWWL to spend more time with her family.

She plans on leaving after May sweeps because she’s expecting her fourth kid.

“It hit me that I am going to have four children under the age of 8 and I think the ‘mom-guilt’ really sunk in,” Goodman said. “This schedule can be tough. Every night when I go home for break after the 6 p.m. news, my kids ask me the same tough question: ‘Do you have to go back to work?’ The disappointment on their faces is really hard to digest.”

“We certainly understand and support her,” station manager Jim McKernan said. “She needs to take time off from the TV business with three young children and a fourth on the way. It’s a demanding profession. For main anchors, it’s a demanding job for a mom,” working a 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. shift.”
