Initial Daryl Hawks Autopsy Inconclusive

By Andrew Gauthier

The cause of WMAQ sports anchor Daryl Hawks’ death remains a mystery after an autopsy conducted by the medical examiner’s office in Atlanta found no obvious clues to why the 38-year-old was found dead in his Atlanta hotel room on Thursday.

The chief medical examiner sent out a press release saying that additional tests are being conducted after the initial autopsy yielded no results.

The results of the additional tests, which include the microscopic examination of tissues and toxicology testing, will not be available for at least two weeks.

In the meantime, WMAQ has been remembering Hawks in a series of segments aired during the NBC O&O’s recent newscasts and the station has posted staff-members’ memories of Hawks on its website.
